I want you to buy an Obamacare plan... or else!

Under the headline “Right-wing extremists face new moral conundrum”, Brian Beutler writes that Obamacare has

all of the ingredients any marketplace needs to be successful:

1) An appealing product.

2) A large population of motivated shoppers.

3) Affordable prices, either by design or by discount.

4). A fast-moving checkout counter.

But Beutler forgot the most important ingredient of all!

5) The use of government force to coerce individuals to purchase the product.

I mean, come on, every successful marketplace needs that. Only right-wing extremists can’t understand this.

Then Beutler adds:

This is particularly excellent news for the 5-or-so million people whose existing policies are about to lapse. Many of them weren’t aware that the Affordable Care Act offered them comparable or better deals.

Oh, what particularly excellent news it is for people who were promised that they could keep their plans that in fact, they cannot, but that they must instead buy a new, even better, more expensive plan with so-called “essential health benefits” that they neither want nor need! It’s so great that these individuals have thought controllers like Brian Beutler in the media explaining to them what is good for them.
