Moshe Arens offers an instructive example of how Zionists employ euphemisms and other dishonesty to cover up the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. He writes:

For [U.S. Secretary of State John] Kerry the “’67 lines” is a euphemism for the lines defined by the April 3, 1949 armistice concluded by the Israel Defense Forces with the Jordanian army, which had invaded Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria on May 15, 1948. This British commanded, equipped, and funded army had joined the Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, and Iraqi armies in their combined attempt to destroy the new-born Jewish State, each hoping to grab a piece of the territory mandated by the League of Nations to Britain for the purpose of establishing a Jewish State in Palestine. As the British armed forces left the area, they came storming in. The Jordanian army succeeded in capturing the Jewish quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, blew up its synagogues and deported all its inhabitants.

“Judea and Samaria” is, of course, a Zionist euphemism for the West Bank, the Israeli-occupied land of the state of Palestine. East Jerusalem, as well, is under international law occupied Palestinian territory.

And saying the Jordanian army “invaded” this Palestinian territory is a euphemism for describing how Jordan responded to the Zionists’ ethnic cleansing operations, which resulted in 750,000 Arabs fleeing or being forcibly expelled from Palestine, by defending the West Bank from the Zionists’ invading army seeking to conquer it.

When he says the Arab armies attempted “to destroy the new-born Jewish State”, this is his euphemism for finally mustering a military response to the ethnic cleansing operations necessary to make the demographically “Jewish State” declared by the Zionist leadership to exist on May 14, 1948, following several months of massacres and expulsions already underway. He is referring to the efforts of the neighboring Arab states to prevent the ethnic cleansing, destruction of Arab villages, and theft of Arab land.

And when Arens writes that the League of Nations mandated Britain with “establishing a Jewish State in Palestine”, he is simply lying. The League of Nations had no authority to take land from the Arabs and give it to the Jews. Nor did it declare to have such authority. The Palestine Mandate did adopt and reiterate the British policy outlined in the Balfour Declaration of supporting the Zionist aspiration of a “Jewish homeland” to be established “in Palestine”, without prejudice for the right of the majority Arab inhabitants. What this meant was clarified in the Churchill White Paper: autonomous Jewish communities within Palestine. (Read more about this in my book The Rejection of Palestinian Self-Determination: The Struggle for Palestine and the Roots of the Israeli-Arab Conflict.)

Arens is correct that some 2,000 Jews were expelled from the Jewish quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. But he neglects to mention that this was only after about 30,000 people, comprising most of the Arab inhabitants there, were expelled from West Jerusalem when Zionist forces invaded the city.
