In this interview with Press TV, I explain why Trump moving the US embassy to Jerusalem actually presents an opportunity to move forward toward a just peace, why US policy is so overtly prejudicial toward Palestinians rights, and what the major obstacles are that remain to be overcome.

Last week, I posted about an interview I gave to Press TV, and how the video they produced from my interview so grossly distorted my message that it communicated the literal opposite of what I’d actually said.

I confronted Press TV about it, and they decided to delete that video and release a new one of my full interview. Watch it above! I talk about:

  • How Trump moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, despite being illegal and greatly prejudicing the rights of the Palestinians, actually opens up an opportunity to end the occupation regime.
  • How the over-exaggeration of the external influence of “the Israel lobby” serves to obfuscate the even more pervasive influence of Christian Zionism that is so deeply ingrained within American society.
  • How the Arab states not only don’t stand up for Palestinians’ rights, but betray them.
  • How governments aren’t going to get the job done, and it is up to us to effect the paradigm shift necessary for a just peace to be realized.
  • How one main obstacle standing in the way of Palestinians realizing their aspirations is their own leadership, given the PA’s role under the Oslo Accords as Israel’s collaborator in enforcing its occupation regime, as well as the lack of unity between Hamas and Fatah, which is a consequence of Israel and the US employing a “divide and conquer” strategy effectively.

Christian Zionism is a reality, but the Holocaust gave an additional impetus to give Israel a homeland. The historical animus towards the Jews is another valid reason for a homeland for the Jews. Peace can be attained if both “sides” work in good faith to end the conflict. The main problem is neither side wants to negotiate with good faith and equal compromise, mostly because the leaders on both sides benefit both politically and/or financially to continue the conflict.

    • Yes, the Holocaust was certainly another major factor apart from either the Israel Lobby or Christian Zionism. However, I disagree entirely with your characterization of the conflict. In truth, the Palestinians have negotiated in good faith, whereas Israel has not. Every concession made or demanded throughout the entire so-called “peace process” has been made by or demanded of the Palestinians. The amount of concessions from Israel has been negative.

Okay, but most of the land “occupied” by Israel has come about from wars initiated by Arab “neighbors” I also remember when Arafat and Rabin made a deal and Arafat refused major concessions from Israel. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2002/may/23/israel3
The Arabs in the region dont want peace with Israel they want destruction of Israel, then again I do agree the US is way to much in the pocket Israel, and we give them way to much slack. Also, I do appreciate an alternative viewpoint about the conflict which is muted in the main stream media. Thanks for your reply.

      • It is a simple and uncontroversial point of fact under international law that all of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are occupied Palestinian territories.

Your understanding of the conflict is also otherwise misinformed. I’ve written a book to help you see through the lies and propaganda you’ve unfortunately been inundated with:
