Here are 15 facts about measles that you wouldn't know unless you did your own research because the government and mainstream media won't inform you.

The mainstream corporate media have been in hysteria mode about measles, as have federal, state, county, and municipal governments. Every article you read essentially reiterates the same talking points: measles is a deadly disease, the vaccine is very effective and very safe, and “anti-vaxxers” are a threat to society because they are so dangerously ignorant about the science.

Yet parents doing their own research are well aware of how simplistic and downright deceptive the mainstream narrative is. The media refuse to even scratch the surface of the subject and engage in public policy advocacy — i.e., propaganda — rather than properly educating the public about what science actually tells us.

So here are 15 scientific facts about measles and the measles vaccine that you aren’t being told by the government or mainstream media:

1. Measles mortality in the US had already plummeted before the vaccine was introduced due to an increasing standard of living.

2. Among the known risk factors for measles complications is malnutrition, including vitamin A deficiency. The World Health Organization (WHO) actually uses high dose vitamin A as a treatment for measles in developing countries.

3. The routine claim you hear in the media that measles in the US kills 1 person for every 1,000 infected is a deliberate lie told by the CDC. The true number was more like 1 in 10,000 before the vaccine.

4. Mass vaccination has actually increased the case fatality rate by shifting the risk burden away from children, in whom it’s generally a benign disease, and onto those at higher risk: infants and adults.

5. Two words you’ll never read in a mainstream media article about measles are “vaccine failure”. It’s an acknowledged fact in the scientific literature that despite a very high vaccination rate — above the 95% or so supposedly required to sustain vaccine-conferred “herd immunity” — outbreaks of measles can still occur due to vaccine failure.

6. “Primary vaccine failure” occurs when the vaccine fails to provoke a protective level of antibodies. The vaccine simply fails to work in anywhere from 2 to 10 percent of people.

7. “Secondary vaccine failure” occurs when the immunity conferred by the vaccine wanes over time.

8. While the vaccine is designed to stimulate production of antibodies, antibodies are neither always sufficient nor even necessary for the development of immunity.

9. Natural infection with measles conferred a robust cell-mediated immunity in addition to humoral, or antibody, immunity. In addition, frequent reexposure served to naturally boost immunity so that typically people only had measles once and then were immune for life.

10. The inferiority of vaccine-conferred immunity, loss of natural natural boosting, and the phenomenon of vaccine failure are why adults today are at greater risk in the event of exposure.

11. Infants are also at greater risk due to mothers’ decreased ability to confer passive immunity to their babies prenatally through the placenta and postnatally through breastmilk.

12. Parents in the US today face a choice between deliberately putting their child at a largely unknown risk of harm from the vaccine and the near zero risk that their child will get infected, much less die from or be permanently harmed, by the measles virus. (Note that the media will describe the vaccine as a “victim of its own success” but never draw the logical corollary of how at some point the risk from the vaccine does become greater than the risk from the virus.)

13. Natural infection with measles during childhood has been associated with a reduced risk of much more serious diseases later in life, including degenerative bone disease, certain tumors, Parkinson’s disease, allergic disease, chronic lymphoid leukemia, both non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma, and cardiovascular disease. Government officials do not consider opportunity costs such as these when formulating public vaccine policy.

14. Merck, the manufacturer of the measles vaccine, cannot be sued for vaccine injuries because pharmaceutical corporations that make vaccines routinely recommended for use in children have been given near total legal immunity by the government.

15. Measles vaccine mandates are a gross violation of the individual right to informed consent.

Sources would be helpful, if you can post links?

    • As stated in the post, I’ve written about each of these points in greater detail and with references to the medical literature previously, so please see those prior works.

  • Thanks for this concise summary. I wonder if you know anything about the following: On Del Bigtree’s show, The HighWire, recently, DR Rashid Buttar claimed that they never actually removed the thimerosal from vaccines, but merely added it at a different point in the mfgr process so that they could then fiddle with the wording to deny that it had been added. I would like to research this, but don’t know how. Can you please give me some suggestions? Thank you.

This reporting on Age of Autism may be helpful to you. A Mom emailed the CDC in 2007 asking if thimerosal had been removed from vaccines and what the purification process was. From the responses of people working at the CDC & FDA, removal of thimerosal was voluntary, not mandated, no Federal Agency had checked to assure removal of thimerosal and reporting of removal was also voluntary. CDC & FDA believe that thimerosal is not dangerous so why would they compel vaccine makers to remove it? They say if there is thimerosal in vaccines there are only trace amounts. If you have been following Del Bigtree and Robert Kennedy JR’s, work they have exposed that HHS, who was to conduct safety testing for vaccine every 2 years and send a report to the Senate & Congress on the safety status, has never done those studies and it was mandated by the 1986 vaccine act 33 years go, why would vaccine makers be compelled to remove thimerosal when their only obligation is to their shareholders, not the public AND no Federal Agency cares? Here’s the link: https://www.ageofautism.com/2007/12/emails-from-cdc.html.
I hope the moderators allow it because it’s a very revealing read.

      • There were two main reasons the government recommended thimerosal be removed from childhood vaccines: 1) it had become known that the CDC’s schedule was exposing infants to mercury levels in excess of the government’s own safety guidelines; and 2) it was financially feasible for the manufacturers to do so. Had the latter not been the case, I doubt the government would have made the recommendation.

    • If the claim is that the same amount of thimerosal remains in vaccines, that’s incorrect. It it is true that trace amounts may remain from the manufacturing process, but it is no longer used as a preservative in most childhood vaccines in the US.

Considering HHS has violated 42 USC 300AA-27C which mandated in 1986, Congress charged Health and Human Services (HHS) with the primary responsibility of ensuring vaccine safety after removing product liability from vaccine manufacturers as part of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Compensation Act. As part of the 1986 Act, HHS is required to create a task force and submit bi-annual reports to Congress detailing actions taken to ensure vaccine safety. This stipulated order shows that HHS has not acted in its duties regarding vaccine safety, forcing 78 million American children into a vaccine program with no safety provisions, (ICAN Network), how can people be sure that removal of thimerosal was done? Do you have any studies or reports from HHS who would apparently be responsible for monitoring this? Or is this another the government said it was done so we should believe it? The government said safety studies were done Pre-Licensure for vaccines on the children’s vaccination schedule but HHS informed the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in their reply to a lawsuit filed by Robert Kennedy Jr it never, not even once, submitted a single biennial report to Congress detailing the improvements in vaccine safety as mandated by the 1986 Act and the mandated was 33 years ago. Not trying to be difficult. I’m just interested to know if you have verification that it was actually done?

      • I am aware of how HHS has failed in its legal obligation to ensure vaccine safety. You can see that thimerosal is no longer in childhood vaccines that used to contain it (e.g., HepB) by viewing the manufacturers’ package inserts. You can also look at the package inserts to see that it is still in multi-dose vials of inactivated influenza vaccine.

    • codetalker says:

      Jeremy, thank you for responding.

Mr Siri’s questioned Dr. Stanley Plotkin about the MMR manufactures insert that did not have the Pre-Licensure safety testing on it which is a Federal law that it be listed, why wouldn’t they feel comfortable to not list thimerosal on the manufacturers’ package inserts, if it was still in the vaccine? No one seems to have questioned that lack of documentation until now (safety testing). Plotkins’ blames the manufacture for not putting the safety testing on the insert. Manufactures insert don’t mention that there are trace amounts in the vaccines even though the CDC does on it’s website. The blatant dishonesty of the vaccine orbit makes me think that nothing is beyond their corruption. What if vaccine manufactures now simply list thimerosal under the umbrella “trade secrets”? Who is actually testing vials for thimerosal since they said they removed it? Under the circumstances I think these are reasonable question.

      • why wouldn’t they feel comfortable to not list thimerosal on the manufacturers’ package inserts, if it was still in the vaccine?

Because if they were to lie about it, they would be committing fraud, which is one of the two conditions in which a vaccine manufacturer could be sued in the US. They also have no reason to lie about it as thimerosal is only required for multi-dose vials of vaccines. The use of a preservative for multi-dose vials is an FDA requirement.

    • codetalker says:

Jeremy: Because if they were to lie about it, they would be committing fraud, which is one of the two conditions in which a vaccine manufacturer could be sued in the US.

By not doing the safety studies yet continued to tell the public studies have been done, haven’t they already committed fraud? Or are safety studies the sole responsibility of HHS?

By “they” in my previous comment, I was referring to the vaccine manufacturers, not HHS. The HHS’s failure with respect to its mandate to ensure vaccine safety is really irrelevant to the removal of thimerosal from vaccines. Obviously, the government is untrustworthy, but I don’t see any reason to believe the manufacturers are still secretly including thimerosal in single-dose vials. That wouldn’t even make any sense since the preservative isn’t required for single-dose vaccines.

  • James Cutler says:

Hi Jeremy, I just read your post from 2014 on the lack of scientific validity to a study purporting to show that vaccines don’t cause autism. That’s a great point about the comparison between that study and comparing packs of cigarettes smoked between smokers with lung cancer and smokers without. I’m just curious though, do you think vaccines do cause autism? If so, why? If not, why not?

    • The way I see it, it isn’t a matter of opinion. Either vaccines can or cannot cause autism. The government and media tell us that science has proven they cannot, but that is a lie. It is biologically plausible that vaccines can cause autism in susceptible children. There are known mechanisms by which it can happen. There are a great many parents who say that vaccination caused their child’s autism. And we have documented cases like Hannah Poling’s in which there is no other more plausible explanation. The scientific evidence tells us that vaccines can and do cause autism in susceptible individuals.

@Jeremy: Just sent you an email. Could not get your “Contact” form to send it for some reason. So I sent it to your “Support” email address.

    Anyway,

Very much liked your presentation style. You do a very fine job of explaining the issues you cover, and make things stand out clearly.

    Unfortunately,

My writing style has suffered greatly, as I am out of practice, and also think it is one of those “age-related” things (most likely, something else though). Anyway, definitely digging in deep, on this “Information War” we are experiencing.
