I recently joined Nate the Voluntaryist on his podcast to discuss the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. I debunked myths and explained the true origins of the conflict, the reasons for its perpetuation, and what must be done in order for a just peace to be realized. Here are some of the points we discussed:

  • When and how I realized I was a libertarian
  • The truth about how Israel was founded and the role of Great Britain
  • How the belief that the UN created Israel is a myth
  • Relations between Arabs and Jews before and after Zionism
  • The influence of Christian Zionism on US policy
  • Truths about the 1948 and 1967 wars
  • The true meaning of UN Security Council Resolution 242
  • How Hamas really came to power in Gaza
  • How Israel has repeatedly violated ceasefires with Hamas
  • Why it’s first necessary to implement the two-state solution to have any hope of achieving the one-state solution
  • The US role and how the goal of the so-called “peace process” has always been to block implementation of the two-state solution
  • What must happen for a just peace to be realized, including strategic shortcomings of the BDS movement
  • How the US works to block any efforts to criticize Israel or hold it accountable for its violations of international law, such as blocking the recommendations of the UN Goldstone Report from being implemented
  • How the dismissal of legitimate criticism of Israel as “anti-Semitic” is losing its effect because people see how ridiculous it is
  • How social media companies like Facebook are engaging in censorship in service to the state (Nate brought this up in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I discussed it in the context of vaccines and how “misinformation” is being used as a euphemism to mean any information, no matter how truthful and science-based, that doesn’t serve the public policy goal of maintaining or increasing vaccination rates)
  • How institutions and systems take on a life of their own regardless of which individuals happen to hold an office or which party is in power
  • How a paper titled “The Libertarian Case for Israel” presents an anti-libertarian and collectivist view and deceives readers about the conflicts origins and the reasons for its perpetuation
  • How people succumb to confirmation bias and a method for how we can each overcome our own prejudices, consider all perspectives, and reconcile differences to arrive at the truth
