Ever feel like you’re a slave to a system you don’t understand and have no control over?
Or that “the system” had your whole life planned out for you? Go to school. Then more school. Then college. Then, if you’re “lucky”, get a job working for someone else and doing one thing for the rest of your life…

And do you ever feel like you’re just spinning your wheels, working hard but having seemingly having the fruits of your labors stripped away from you?

The system is rigged. You can see it every day. The rich keep getting richer while the poor and middle class get squeezed—like how the banks blew up the economy and then got a taxpayer bailout from the government in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

Every day our wealth is literally stolen from us. Our rights are being violated and our precious liberty is under constant attack. The government constantly lies to us. The mainstream media have not only failed us, but essentially serve the role of manufacturing your consent to sustain this status quo.

How do you protect yourself, your wealth, and your liberty?
What if you could empower yourself with the knowledge to be able to see through the lies and propaganda? What if you could break free from the chains of mental bondage?

What if you had the knowledge to be able to have an impact and make a difference, not only in your own life, but in the lives of those around you?

What if you could learn to understand how the system works to be better equipped to defend your liberty?

What would it be worth to you to be able to understand how the economy works? To understand why, for example, there’s a boom-bust cycle like the housing bubble and the financial crisis it precipitated?

What would it be worth to you to be able to have the foresight to be able to protect your wealth and better provide for your family?

That old saying is true: Knowledge is power.
Jeremy R. HammondI’m Jeremy R. Hammond, an award-winning independent political analyst, publisher and editor of Foreign Policy Journal, and author.

I can remember even as a child feeling like a slave to “the system”—well before I even understood what that system was or why and how it affected my life so much.

Right up through my college years, I felt trapped and directionless. So I decided to do something to change my life. I wanted to feel free and find my own purpose. That began my transformational journey of self-education.

Through studying, I began to break free of the indoctrination that had kept me feeling that sense of helplessness. The more I learned about history, government, economics, and why things are the way they are, the more determined I became to take control of my own destiny—and to try to make a difference for others, too.

Through self-education, I came to understand that things don’t have to be this way. I came to understand how the powers-that-be use the institutions of the state to maintain their power and control over us precisely be keeping us in the dark.

Those who benefit from the system—the corrupt politicians and the crony capitalists who reject the free market and rely on government force to achieve their aims—don’t want us to be well informed.

And there’s a simple reason for that: if the populace was well informed, people would stop consenting to being ruled over, and the powers-that-be could no longer maintain their system of control over us.

But where do we find the resources?
There’s a famous saying: those who fail to learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them.

To understand the present day system of control, it’s essential to learn the lessons of history—the history they didn’t teach us.

It’s also important to know how the economy really works. In fact, having an understanding of how markets function and where economic prosperity comes from is critically important to be able to understand pretty much every political issue you care about—because, in the end, all government policies are in one way or another about intervening in the marketplace.

Through my own studies, I came to realize how there’s an entire field of economics that exists essentially to serve the interests of the state and crony sectors of the economy—such as by manufacturing consent for the government monopoly over the currency supply. I came to understand how the Federal Reserve system is a fundamental cause of the disparity of wealth and how its policies effectively defraud us of our wealth.

And with that kind of understanding comes a true sense of empowerment.

As I progressed on my own journey of self-empowerment, I came across the work of a guy named Tom Woods.

I had seen how, while most mainstream economists were completely blind to the housing bubble and the financial crisis it precipitated, a few people like Ron Paul had been presciently warning about it for years. How? I wanted to know. I wanted to gain that kind of knowledge and be able to have that kind of foresight.

I came across Tom’s website, where he had a resource page to help people learn economics—resources I found invaluable. With Tom helping to point me in the right direction, I began focusing my research heavily on the subject of economics.

Boring. Right?

Actually, not at all. I actually found myself enthralled by the subject. That’s because I was learning from people who make economics make sense.

Not the way mainstream economists talk down to us with a bunch of technical gibberish intended to make us all think they must be really smart so we’ll trust them and their ideas to centrally manage the economy for us.

No, the economics I studied was all about how attempting to centrally plan the economy is the problem. No gibberish here. Just plain talk and common sense that helped demystify the subject for me.

One of the results of that journey of discovery was my book Ron Paul vs. Paul Krugman: Austrian vs. Keynesian Economics in the Financial Crisis, which ended up getting a rave review in none other than Barron’s.

That book took me only two weeks to write, but I had been studying economics for several years to gain the knowledge and insights that allowed me to write it.

What I was missing was a resource like Liberty Classroom.
