IRS Targeting of Conservatives is Right, Some Americans Say

The title of this post could just have well been the title of this New York Times article, which notes that a quarter of Americans feel that the IRS did nothing wrong.

Ah, the IRS. Isn’t it lovely to know, as the Times also enlightens us, that with U.S. taxpayer money, this government agency also engages in behaviors such as the following?

The Internal Revenue Service spent $4.1 million on a single conference in Southern California in 2010, paying top dollar for hotel rooms, $27,500 for a keynote speaker and tens of thousands of dollars for gifts to the 2,600 people who attended, according to a newly released Treasury Department audit.
