Introduction

Welcome to my website. If you would like to use this website, you must accept these terms and conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, you should not use this website. These terms may be modified at any time and without notice. If you require any more information or have any questions about this site’s terms of use, please contact me here:

Disclaimer

The information contained in this website is for general information purposes only. While I endeavor to the best of my ability to provide accurate information, you acknowledge that site content may contain inaccuracies or errors, and you accept full responsibility and all liability for your own use of this information.

None of the information presented on this website constitutes personal legal, medical, or financial advice. If you require personal advice in any of these areas, you should consult a professional.

The contents of this site are protected under U.S. and international copyright law. If you would like to copy, redistribute, publish, or otherwise use content from this site outside of “fair use” as defined under U.S. copyright law (U.S.C. 17 § 107), permission is required.

Republication Guidelines

If you would like to republish any content of mine categorized as a “Blog” post, you may do so with proper attribution.

If you would like to republish any content categorized as “News & Analysis”, please first contact me for permission. If you would like to publish an excerpt of up to a few hundred words (~500 max) and link to the original to continue reading, you may do so with proper attribution and without first contacting me (although I would appreciate a notification).

It is my intent with any content categorized as a “Special Report” to keep that exclusive to this site. However, if you would like to publish a reasonable length excerpt (~800 word max) with a link to the original, you may do so with proper attribution and without needing to first contact me. I may also make exceptions to this exclusivity policy depending on the use case.

“Proper attribution” means (1) naming me as the author and (2) providing a link to the original content on my site. (Suggested wording for the link is “This article was originally published at JeremyRHammond.com”, with my site name hyperlinked. Be sure to link to the original article and not just my homepage.)

To request permission for republication, please contact me here:

Affiliate Marketing

One of the ways I support my independent journalism is through affiliate marketing. If there is a product or service that I think could benefit members of my audience, I might promote it using tracking links, so that if members of my audience end up making a purchase after clicking one of my affiliate links, I will earn a commission for the referral.

Community Guidelines

All visitors are welcome to post comments to articles. Debate is welcome and encouraged. Understand that you do not have a right to comment on my website. Your ability to comment here is instead a privilege that I grant to you, and if you do not abide by my rules, your privileges may be revoked.

To keep the discussion meaningful, relevant, and productive, the following rules will be enforced:

  • Your comments must be of reasonable length, relevant to the topic of the article, and respectful to others.
  • You should respect others’ time by ensuring that your comments are legibly typed with consideration for proper grammar and punctuation and appropriate formatting (do not type in all caps, break text into separate paragraphs if necessary, etc.).
  • You must be civil and courteous towards authors and other commenters. Substantive criticisms are welcome, but ad hominem argumentation, personal attacks, insults, and abusive language are not.
  • Comments containing racist or hateful remarks or personal attacks may be deleted and the user banned.
  • Comments aimed at inciting or defending criminal violence may be deleted and the user banned.
  • All opinions are welcomed. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts. If you make controversial assertions, back them up. If you think others are wrong, explain.
  • If you disagree with an article or other commenters, you are welcome to express your contrary view, but please support your position with an argument (i.e., point out where you think there are any errors of fact or logic). Comments consisting of mere dismissals or that otherwise do not substantively address others’ points may be deleted.
  • You are welcome to share links to sources containing information relevant to the article topic in order to support your arguments, but do not post links to make your argument for you. Respect others’ time by explaining your purpose in sharing the link and its relevance to the discussion.

Disrespecting these terms of use may result in the revocation of commenting privileges.

Private Members-Only Community Rules

Visitors to this site may sign up for my membership program. A free membership allows access to featured content. (I have not adopted the paywall model for my journalism because I believe access to critical knowledge should not depend on one’s income level.) A paid membership grants additional benefits, including access to a private members-only community.

This community exists to foster thoughtful discussion, critical inquiry, and respectful dialogue around important issues, including topics considered controversial and that are distorted or censored in the mainstream discourse. Participants are expected to contribute in good faith, showing mutual respect, consideration, and civility, with the goal of collaborative truth-seeking and personal betterment.

The privacy of community members shall at all times be respected. No information shared privately by any members may be shared outside of the community.

The Community Guidelines on this page relevant for posting comments on website article pages are also applicable to the membership community. Violation of these terms may result in removal of posts or comments, and repeat or serious violations may result in revocation of access to the community. No refunds will be offered on the price of a membership for the loss of this membership benefit due to violations of the Community Guidelines. Revocation of community access does not mean loss of other membership benefits.

The community may be moderated according to these Community Guidelines. It is my intent to host a space where I never need to remove a post or ban members, but if this does occur and you feel you have been treated unfairly, you may contact me to respectfully request reconsideration. To help inform a judicious final determination, any other appointed moderators or impacted community may be consulted.

If you feel another member has violated the spirit of the Community Guidelines and Rules, you may use the built-in feature to report a post for moderation, or contact me.

Marketing to other members of the community is permissible provided that the following guidelines are followed. One goal of the community is for members to help each other. If you have a product or service that you feel may be of value to other members, you are welcome to share it. It is expected that anyone doing so is an active member who shares information and content that is not self-promotional in nature. Using the community only to market your product or services is prohibited. Any offers made must be relevant to the context, genuine in the aim of helping others solve a problem, and transparent. Sharing of affiliate links is allowed provided that the product or service is not one I may also wish to promote. If you are uncertain whether a promotion might compete with my own monetization efforts, first contact me for permission.
