Obamacare’s ‘Coverage Gap’ Isn’t the Fault of Republicans
The Obamacare 'coverage gap' exists because the Obama administration and the Democratic supporters sought through the law to force people onto Medicaid.

Binyamin Applebaum in the New York Times actually makes the argument that slowing spending on health care is hurting the economy. That should sound idiotic to you on its face, but Applebaum does a fair job of trying to make a ridiculous idea sound plausible, so its worth taking a few moments to actually address his arguments.
I find it humorous that the media -- and insurance companies -- constantly refer to the "penalty" of Obamacare's individual mandate. They (rightly) completely ignore the Alice-In-Wonderland logic of the Supreme Court's ruling that it is a tax, but not a penalty, since penalizing people for not buying insurance would be unconstitutional. I can't help but wonder what John Roberts and the other Supreme Court justices must think when they constantly read in the media about the "penalty"....
Here's a Twitter conversation I recently had that is illustrative of how supporters of a single-payer health care system of necessity are unable to maintain any logical consistency. For example, notice how they are supporting a petition advocating the need to "End...
A breakdown of why healthcare costs are soaring in America and how Obamacare is going to impact things going forward.
Paul Krugman once again disingenuously claims that the slowing rate of increase in the costs of health care can be attributed at least in part to Obamacare.
The New York Times has a pretty good article on Big Pharma, ADHD, and the drugs prescribed to treat it. Titled "The Selling of Attention Deficit Disorder", it begins by telling about Dr. Keith Conners, who points out that 15% of high-school aged kids have been diagnosed with it and that the number of children on medication for it has gone from 600,000 in 1990 to 3,500,000 today. One in seven children are diagnosed with ADHD by the age of 18. “The numbers make it look like an epidemic. Well, it’s not. It’s preposterous,” says Dr. Conners. “This is a concoction to justify the giving out of medication at unprecedented and unjustifiable levels.”
I couldn't agree more.
Paul Krugman says that "There are lots of good reasons for the young to sign up" for an Obamacare health insurance plan. Yet he names only one: "it’s the law."
Paul Krugman's intellectual dishonesty is yet again on display in his column "Obamacare's Secret Success", in which he claims that the so-called Affordable Care Act (ACA) is responsible for the slowdown in the costs of health care.
For a limited time only, both parts of the documentary film Burzynski: Cancer Is Serious Business are available to watch for free online. If you haven't seen them, I highly recommend watching them now or bookmarking this page to watch later. But don't wait too long, because it's only available until December 16.
"So, very early reports are that Obamacare exchanges are, as expected, having some technical glitches on the first day — maybe even a bit worse than expected, because it appears that volume has been much bigger than predicted. Here’s what you need to know: this is good, not bad, news for the program.... Lots of people logging on and signing up on the very first day ... is an early indication that it’s going to be fine, that plenty of people will sign up for the first year of health reform." -- Paul Krugman, "Good Glitches", October 1, 2013
Under the headline "Right-wing extremists face new moral conundrum", Brian Beutler writes that Obamacare has all of the ingredients any marketplace needs to be successful:
1) An appealing product.
2) A large population of motivated shoppers.
3) Affordable prices, either by design or by discount.
4). A fast-moving checkout counter.
But Beutler forgot the most important ingredient of all!
Obama's promise that Americans that they could keep their health insurance if they liked it shows how he doesn't understand Obamacare.
Here are five of the top lies that have been told about the so-called Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a., Obamacare. 1) The individual mandate is constitutional. 2) Everyone's premiums will be lower. 3) If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. 3a) Okay, so many people can't keep their plans, but their new plans will be better! 4) You can keep your doctor. 5) Obamacare creates more choice and competition.
Obama promised people that if they liked their health insurance plan, they would be able to keep it under Obamacare. He lied.
The FDA, far from being a government agency with consumers' interest in mind, just serves the interests of the pharmaceutical industry.
The so-called "Affordable Care Act" is designed to force young, healthy individuals to subsidize the costs for the sick.
Yesterday, I went to HealthCare.gov, the Obamacare insurance exchange website, to see what I could see. Not much, it turned out.
Comparing Paul Krugman's comments on the issue of a U.S. debt crisis offers further proof that he's a partisan hack, not an economist who can be taken seriously.
I am a truly independent journalist and Research Fellow at The Libertarian Institute whose work is focused on exposing dangerous mainstream propaganda that serves to manufacture consent for criminal government policies.
I'm the author of several books, including Obstacle to Peace: The US Role in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict The War on Informed Consent, Ron Paul vs. Paul Krugman: Austrian vs. Keynesian Economics in the Financial Crisis, and The War on Informed Consent, which features a Foreword by Robert F. Topics I have covered over the years include 9/11 and the "war on terrorism", the war on Iraq, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the role of the Federal Reserve in the economy, and so-called "public health" policies including vaccines and the COVID-19 lockdown madness.
